This individual will serve as the primary point of contact with municipal township offices across New Jersey, ensuring permits are processed efficiently and any inquiries from township staff are addressed promptly and professionally. <h2 style="margin-bottom: 6pt; margin-top: 12pt;">Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Travel to assigned New Jersey townships to drop off HVAC permit applications in person, ensuring all documents are complete, properly organized, and submitted to the correct department.</li><li>Pick up approved permits, rejection notices, or pending correspondence from the township building and inspection departments.</li><li>Communicate professionally with township clerks, building department staff, and code officials to answer basic questions, provide missing information, or relay status updates back to the office.</li><li>Maintain a daily log of all permit submissions, pick-ups, and township interactions, including dates, permit numbers, and contact names.</li><li>Escalate unresolved issues or complex questions from township officials to the appropriate permit coordinator or project manager in a timely manner.</li><li>Plan efficient daily routes across multiple municipalities to minimize travel time and maximize permit processing turnaround.</li><li>Handle permit documents with care and maintain the confidentiality of all application materials at all times.</li></ul> <h2 style="margin-bottom: 6pt; margin-top: 12pt;">Required Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with municipal staff.</li><li>Basic understanding of HVAC permit processes or willingness to learn.</li><li>Ability to manage time effectively across multiple township stops per day.</li><li>Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for document handling.</li><li>Smartphone proficiency for navigation, communication, and daily logging.</li><li>Professional appearance and demeanor when representing the company at all times.</li></ul> <h2 style="margin-bottom: 6pt; margin-top: 12pt;">Preferred Experience</h2><ul><li>Prior experience as a permit runner, courier, or in a municipal-facing role.</li><li>Familiarity with NJ township building departments and permitting workflows.</li><li>Background in construction, HVAC, or the skilled trades industry.</li><li>Experience navigating NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA) local code compliance documentation.</li></ul> <h2 style="margin-bottom: 6pt; margin-top: 12pt;">Vehicle Options</h2>Candidates may qualify under one of the following two arrangements: Option A (Personal Vehicle): Candidate uses their own vehicle for all township runs. Mileage is reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate. <ul><li>Requirements:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Proof of personal NJ auto insurance</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Minimum NJ liability coverage</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Valid registration in the candidate's name</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Mileage log submitted weekly</li></ul> Option B (Company Vehicle): A company-owned or leased vehicle is provided for all work-related travel. <ul><li>Requirements:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">MVR check required before assignment</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Fuel card provided; business use only</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Report all accidents or damage immediately</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Complete periodic vehicle inspection checklists</li></ul> <h2 style="margin-bottom: 6pt; margin-top: 12pt;">Working Conditions</h2><ul><li>Primarily field-based with limited desk or office work.</li><li>Daily travel throughout New Jersey municipalities is required.</li><li>Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.</li><li>Monday through Friday; hours aligned to the township building department office hours.</li><li>Occasional extended hours may be required during high-volume permit periods.</li><li>Light physical activity: walking between offices and carrying document folders or application packets.</li></ul> <h2 style="margin: 12pt 0px 6pt; font-size: 1.5em; color: rgb(38, 38, 38);">Salary</h2><ul><li>$15 - $20 per hour. 40 hours per week</li></ul> We are an equal opportunity employer.
