Residential Weatherization Technician
The Residential Weatherization Technicianwill assist with implementing a broad range of energy conservation programs by conducting comprehensive energy audits of residential properties, client education, and communication with team members. The position requires knowledge and use of Oracle Netsuite (we will teach you) as well as basic knowledge of Office and Excel and energy modeling software.
Responsible for approximately 100+ Energy Audits per year, which may entail maintaining a workload of 30+ in-progress projects. Responsibilities:
- Follow the prescribed training to become a BPI Certified Building Analyst, then an Energy Auditor in the States of PA and NJ, with a goal of obtaining the Quality Control Inspector Certification
- Blow in insulation and perform weatherization tasks such as air sealing
- Perform various technical tests: blower door, static pressure, heating system efficiency
- Assessing and documenting the condition of the thermal envelope.
- Educating the client whenever possible to obtain energy savings.
- Determine areas of possible health and safety dangers.
- Installing some energy savings products such as light bulbs and low-flow devices.
- Metering appliances for possible replacement.
- Performing energy savings functions such as water temperature down.
- Communicate with clients
- Thoroughly document the information gathered at the energy audit in the field, in written and computerized formats as required.
- Write work order specifications for the Synergy3 team members.
- Inspect the work to check for conformity with the work order
Qualifications:
- 0 to 1 year of relevant industry experience
- High school diploma or GED
- BPI Certification preferred, ability to obtain certification within 3-6 months, training will be provided
- A flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends when needed
- Well-spoken with a positive attitude
- The ability to talk to anyone and be comfortable with the idea of in-home consulting
- An adaptive mentality and ability to learn quickly
- A valid driver's license with reliable transportation & no history of major driving infractions
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Able to work in different weather conditions including extreme hot and cold weather
- Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
- Crawl, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or reach often working in crawl spaces and under mobile homes for part of the workday
- Use repetitive hand motions & use of basic hand and power tools
- Use of a ladder at various heights (up to 3 stories)
- Lift, carry, or push up to 50 pounds as needed
Compensation:
- Full Time
- $25.00 - $32.00 an hour, commensurate with experience.
